Right Relationships in Polarized World
What does it mean to live in a right relationship with God, our neighbor, the stranger, and even ourselves? In the 21th Century, the question has become even more pressing as individuals and faith communities seek to do justice and righteousness for those who are most vulnerable in a world that seems to be coming apart.
Annual Assembly Workshops
The 137th Annual Assembly will also feature workshops that help us to address the issue of Right Relationships in a Polarized World, including:
- “My Peace I Give to You.” Fr. Gabriel from the Hermitage of the Holy Cross in Wayne County will lead a workshop on Orthodox monasticism.
- “When did we see you hungry?” A presentation by Candice Maxwell on the impact of SNAP on the wellbeing of West Virginia children, the elderly, individuals, and families.
- “When did we see you sick?” Two workshops on Substance Use Disorder. Rev. Dr. Jana Stoner will lead a workshop on the role of Quick Response Teams in combating Substance Use Disorder. In the second workshop, VISTA members working on Substance Use Disorder will share what they have learned about fighting Substance Use Disorder in West Virginia.
- “When did we see you in prison?” Rev. Beverly Sharp will lead a workshop on the role of the faith community in ex-offender reentry into the community. Following the workshop, the Annual Assembly will host the first statewide Community Reentry Council meeting. Everyone is invited.
We hope to see you at the 137th West Virginia Council of Churches Annual Assembly on October 15 – 16!
