It has been my pleasure to serve as your District Superintendent over the past two years. The Potomac Highlands District of the UMC has a proud tradition of being part of a food ministry called RISE AGAINST HUNGER that has fed upwards of 25,000 people throughout the world and my hope is to continue that tradition with your leadership.

A date has been set for June 14, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Burlington Family Services Gymnasium for our district to pack and prepare 25,272 meals. Therefore, our total budget that we need to raise is $8339.76; we are asking for your help in several ways …

First, please PRAY. Pray that those who receive the meals will be blessed and pray that those who prepare them will be blessed. Pray that all those who are preparing to come and for those who will deliver. Let us surround this event by seeking God’s favor. Second, we need VOLUNTEERS. As spiritual leaders in the church, we are asking for you to make connections with people, especially youth groups. This is a great opportunity for young people to put their faith in action and for their leaders to instill God’s work to “feed My sheep” in their lives. Of course, the District will do our part by helping to feed all volunteers – leaders and youth. Pizzas, snacks, chips and drinks will be provided! We are in need of 200 volunteers. Third, we need help offsetting the COST of the meals to be packed. Several of you have already sent donations, of which we are greatly appreciative. We are asking for a $10 donation, per youth, and for churches to hold special fundraisers for this event. Attached is a bulletin insert for your church to print and use. Please make checks payable to POTOMAC HIGHLANDS DISTRICT UMC and put RAH on the memo line of the check.
